Biography

He came from the Tula branch of the ancient noble family of the Begichevs : the son of captain Nikita Stepanovich Begichev and his wife Alexandra Ivanovna, nee Kologrivova [1] . He graduated from the Page Corps ( 1802 ). He did not serve in the army for long (the Alexandrian Hussar and Olonets musketeer regiments) and quit due to illness on September 21, 1803. In 1807 he entered the Tula police .

In 1813 he was recruited as a cornet again and appointed adjutant to General A. S. Kologrivov , together with his brother Dmitry and Alexander Griboedov ; May 21, 1813 transferred to the Cavalier Guard regiment . Since July 9, 1819 - lieutenant colonel of the Tiraspol equestrian ranger regiment. Soon after his marriage, on September 15 ( 27 ), 1825 , he retired as a colonel.

He was a member of the early Decembrist organizations. He was a member of the Union of Welfare , but he left it before dissolution, and therefore was not involved in the investigation of the Decembrists' case. In the 1820s, Begichev's house was one of the centers of cultural life in Moscow. There were A.S. Griboedov, V.F. Odoevsky , V.K. Kyukhelbeker , D.V. Davydov , A.N. Verstovsky . In Begichev’s estate, the village of Dmitrovsky (Tula Province), Griboedov worked on “Woe from Wit”.

The author of one of the first articles on the comedy “ Woe from Wit ”, at the insistence of Griboedov, however, not published. He was connected with Griboedov by the bonds of close friendship. Based on personal memoirs, he wrote “ Note on A. S. Griboedov ” (“ Russian Herald ”, 1892, and also: A. S. Griboedov in the memoirs of his contemporaries. - M.: Federation, 1929. - P. 3-15).

Moscow addresses

  • Bolshaya Dmitrovka street , in the place of house 15. Griboedov stopped at the Begichev house when he was last in Moscow on the way to Persia.
  • Myasnitskaya Street , 42. Begichev Manor. In 1823, having returned to Moscow after a long absence, Griboedov stopped at Begichev. There was a music salon in the house for a while.

He was twice married. The first wife, from 29.4.1823, Anna Ivanovna Baryshnikova. Their kids:
