History
The street developed in the 19th century on Ternovaya Polyana near the Ternovoye Cemetery , by which it got its name.
Crown of Thorns
The blackthorn glade is one of the most ancient toponyms of Voronezh. At first, the meadow was undeveloped, covered with thickets of thorns. In the early 1770s, a city cemetery was made here.
Participants in the war of 1812 , a participant in the Suvorov campaign, officers of the First World War, soldiers of the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars , who died from wounds in Voronezh hospitals, etc. were buried at the Ternovskoye cemetery. The cemetery continued to be buried there and in 1930-1940s.
In the post-war period, a school was built on one of its parts and a sports ground was made. In the 1990s, the Thorny Cemetery began to be protected by the state as a historical monument [1] . The current state of the cemetery is a neglected place with several preserved tombstones. Some graves are put in order, crosses are standing, new plates with the names of the reposed are made. Part of the cemetery is a school football ground [2] .
