Wognema is a village in the Kirillovsky district of the Vologda region , the center of the Lipovsky rural settlement .

Located on the left bank of the Sheksna , 22 km from the district center .

According to the 2002 census, the population is 127 people (63 men, 64 women). The entire population is Russian [1] . In 2008, about 400 people [2] .

History

The village of Vognema has been known since the 15th century . The meaning of its name is not entirely clear, the word is of Finno-Ugric origin, the second half can be translated as β€œcape”. In ancient times, local residents engaged in fishing and delivered fish to the royal court [3] .

In the sixteenth century, 25 villages and 13 wastelands entered the Vozhnemsky volost in the Yezov ( ez β€” a building on the river for fishing) 3 . In 1905, 68 settlements entered Vognemsky parish of Kirillovsky Uyezd , 82 in 1912. In Vognem in 1912 there were 23 residential buildings and 48 inhabitants (27 men and 21 women), 2 more houses and 10 inhabitants (5 men and 5 women) belonged to the Wognem Mother of God-Nativity churchyard. In the village there were a church, rural municipality board, equestrian zemstvo and postal station, 2 small shops, a wine shop, an apartment of a police officer [4] .

In the 1920s, the Wognemsky Village Council was formed. In 1954, it still existed [5] , in 1999 Vognema was a member of the Lipovsky Village Council [6] , in 2000 the center of the village council was moved from the village of Penkovo ​​to Vognemu [7] . In 2006, the Lipovsky village council was transformed into the Lipovsky rural settlement .

Churches

In 1818, "the zeal of the former parishioner of the fleet, Captain Lieutenant Pavel Ignatiev Pavel Afanasiev, with the help of other parishioners" was built stone church of the Nativity of the Virgin with a bell tower [8] . The church is active [9] .

8 km east of Vognema, the buildings of the Nilo-Sora desert , founded in 1480 [10], have survived. To the north of Vognema was the village of Borodava , where in 1485 a wooden church was built, which is by far the oldest accurately dated preserved monument of Russian wooden architecture [11] .

Economics

In the village there is a Vognemsky oil depot , a library , a club, shops [2] , a Vognem basic comprehensive school [12] , a post office [13] .

Near the village there is a ferry crossing through Sheksna , connecting the Kirillovsky district with Belozersky . On the right bank of the river near the crossing are the villages of Desyatovskaya and Kiryanovskaya . The movie Viburnum Red [14] [15] was shot at the Vognem crossing.

  • Anatoly Mikhailovich Konovalov (September 26, 1923 - March 20, 1976) - participant of the Great Patriotic War, full holder of the Order of Glory [16] .
