Biography
He graduated from the Maritime College (1870), the Academic Course in Marine Sciences (1876) and the Mine Officer Class (1878).
In the years 1870-1873 he circumnavigated the clipper " Emerald ".
In the years 1873-1879 he studied mine business at the Whitehead plant in Austria. In 1879β1886, he was the flagship Whitehead Mines Officer at the headquarters of the Baltic Fleet Mine Head. In 1883 he was sent to Sevastopol for experiments with self-propelled Whitehead mines . Since 1886, the assistant to the head of the Mine Officer Class in Kronstadt.
In 1886, the commander of destroyer No. 13 surpassed him from the Shihau plant in Germany in Sevastopol.
In 1887-1890 - senior officer of the cruiser " Africa " and at the same time a teacher of the Mines officer class.
Since 1891 - commander of the transport "Red Hill", then cruiser II rank " Dzhigit ", which in 1894 made a voyage to the Mediterranean Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
From 1896 to 1898 he was the head of the naval scientific department, and from 1898 he commanded the cruiser " Pamyat Azov " of the Pacific squadron. In 1899-1900 he made the transition from Port Arthur to Kronstadt.
In 1900 he commanded the 12th naval crew. Since 1901 - the commander of the squadron battleship Borodino and at the same time the commander of the 18th naval crew in St. Petersburg.
In 1902 he was promoted to rear admiral and appointed chief of staff under the chief commander of the port of Kronstadt. From 1903, the assistant chief, and from 1905 to 1906 and. about. Chief of the Main Naval Staff . Member of the Council of State Defense (CSD).
Since 1906, a member of the Conference of the Nikolaev Maritime Academy. Since 1907, Chairman of the Voluntary Fleet Committee. In 1908, he was dismissed with the rank of vice admiral.
On May 14, 1905, his only son was killed in battle near Tsushima Island - Lieutenant Vladimir von Niedermiller the 2nd (1882-1905), watchman of the squadron battleship Oslyabya .

Evacuated in 1920 from Novorossiysk on the ship "Anatoly Molchanov". He lived first in Yugoslavia. Then he moved to Germany. He was Honorary Chairman of the Union of Mutual Assistance in the Russian Navy.
He died on March 21, 1937 at the age of 86. He was buried in Berlin at the Tegel Orthodox cemetery in the front row of the first quarter [1] .
