The President of Costa Rica is the Head of State and Government of Costa Rica. The president is elected in direct elections for a term of four years, without the possibility of re-election for a second term in a row. Simultaneously with the president, two vice-presidents are elected for the same term. The president appoints the government.

Job Requirements
According to article 131 of the Constitution, the president or vice-president of the Republic must:
- Be a Costa Rican native;
- Do not belong to the military;
- Be over 30 years old.
