Filming took place on the Pearl Islands, off the coast of Panama. The main cross-cutting theme of the season was pirate culture. The participants were divided into two tribes - Drake and Morgan (named after the famous pirates and sailors Francis Drake and Henry Morgan), united during the game in one - Balboa (the tribe was named after the mascot of the Drake tribe - the Balboa snake, which was found by one of the participants Rupert).
Office clerk Sandra Diaz-Twine won the season, steadily surpassing scout master Lilian Morris 6-1, thus becoming the first Latin American to win the game.

Interesting Facts
- The main event of the season was the Exile tribe. The six players who left the game were given a second chance to compete for the victory. They returned to the game as a tribe of Exiles and had to compete in competition with other tribes. In case of victory of the Exiles, 2 participants would return to the game, in case of 2nd place - 1 participant, in case of defeat - no one. The exiles won, and Burton Roberts and Lillian Morris returned to the game (they were chosen at the Exile Tribe Council).
- A surprise for the participants was that, as planned by the organizers, they had to live on the island in the same clothes in which they sailed at the beginning of the game.
- At the beginning, each tribe was given a certain amount of money, which they had to buy before the departure to the island in the Panamanian village for survival. One of the participants, Rupert, did not hesitate to steal some of the things of the enemy tribe.
- A new feature of the organizers was that the tribe who won the competition for the award could send one of their participants to the enemy camp, where he could steal any thing he liked.
- During one of the immunity contests, the victorious tribe was allowed to abduct one of the participants, saving him from the Tribal Council.
- For the first time in the history of the game, one of the participants in the game voluntarily left the island. Osten Taylor could not get used to the island realities and at the Tribal Council left the show voluntarily and without a vote.
- The "story of a dead grandmother" was ambiguously evaluated by the public. During one of the competition for the award, when the participants were visited by their loved ones, John Dolton's friend informed him that his grandmother had died. Thanks to this, he was able to win this contest. Later it turned out that his grandmother was alive, and all this was rigged by Dalton himself.

↑ 1) Lilian and Burton were expelled at the Tribal Councils, respectively, the third and fourth, but later returned to the game with the help of the organizers - a second chance for exiles. The six participants who left the game competed with two active tribes and defeated them. Thanks to this, two of them were able to return to the game, and they became (after the vote of all six) Lilian and Burton.
↑ 2) Osten Taylor left the game of his own free will. Stating at the Tribal Council that he was tired and did not want to risk his health anymore, he left the island.
