Wavy brachycerus [1] [2] [3] ( lat. Brachycerus sinuatus ) is a beetle from the brachyceride family. The representative of a predominantly tropical desert and savannah African genus in the steppes of the south-eastern European part of Russia.

Description

Body length 6 - 15 mm, males are much smaller than females. The color is black. The body shape is very convex. The rostrum is short and wide. Antennae short, thick. The pronotum is angularly widened at the sides. Elytra almost spherical. Pronotum with wide longitudinal ridges along the middle, widened in the center, and with arcuate ridges shortened in front on the side of them. The grooves between the rollers are completely covered with small, light scales. Elytra spaces are strongly convex, sinuous, on the sides of the elytra divided into separate round tubercles. The legs are thick and short, seated with thick protruding bristles. Hips without a tooth. Tibia at apex angularly widened outward in the form of a more or less large lobe. Paws narrow, third segment not wider than second, sole of the first and third segments with narrow tufts of long setae at apex. Claws are free.

Range

Sicily , southern Italy, the Balkans , Cyprus , Turkey , southern Ukraine . It is found in the mountains in Crimea , reaching the level of yail . In Russia - the north-east of the Sea of ​​Azov and the south-west of the Rostov Region, the Sea of ​​Azov and the western part of the Manych Valley, the Taman Peninsula .

Biology

Inhabits the steppes and brackish steppes. Beetles are more common in April-May, fodder plants are unknown, perhaps these are representatives of the lily family.
