Verhniy Lendekh (in the XVIII century. Also Verkhniy Landikh ) is a urban-type settlement in the Ivanovo Region , the administrative center of the Verkhnelandekhovsky district and the Verkhnelandekhovsky urban settlement .

Geography

Located in the southeast of the region, near the Landekh River, 85 km from the Shuya railway station.

History

 
Temple ensemble in Upper Landekh

The first documented mention of the locality refers to 1621 . According to the census books of 1678, half of the village was listed after the boyar Prince Yuri Al. Dolgorukov, the other half - for Prince Yuri Ivanovich Pozharsky. There were several churches in Landeh. A stone church in the name of the Ascension of the Lord with a warm side-chapel in the name of the Three Hierarchs of St. Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom was built in 1731 at the expense of the peasant Lev Prokopyev Naumov. In 1863, on the place of the wooden church that burnt down in 1815, the stone Nikolsky church was built. There were three altars in this church: in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, in the name of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky and in the name of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. Not far from Nikolsky temple there is a stone Ilinsky temple, built in 1790. There were three altars in this temple: in the cold - in the name of the holy prophet Elijah, in the aisles of the warm - in the name of Alexei, the man of God and the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. At the cemetery there was a fourth, wooden church, built in 1780. The throne in it was one - in the name of the holy apostles Peter and Paul. In Upper Landekh since 1863 existed Zemsky national school, there were 123 pupils in 1897 [2] .

In the 19th and the first quarter of the 20th century, the village was the center of the Verkhne-Landekhovskoy parish, Gorokhovetsky district, Vladimir province . In 1859 [3] there were 147 yards in the village, in 1905 [4] - 68 yards.

From 1929, the village became the center of the Landekhovsky district and the Verkhne-Landekhovsky village council , in 1931-46 as part of the Pestyakovsky district , in 1946-60 - the center of the Verkhnelandehovsky district, until 1983 - as part of the Pestyakovsky district .

By the decision of the Ivanovo Regional Executive Committee of September 9, 1985, the village of Verkhny Landekh was assigned to the category of workers' settlements with the same name [5] .

Economy

The main enterprise of the village is the scaffold factory (OJSC Velas).

Nikolskaya church

Civilian buildings from the 19th century, the Nikolskaya ensemble (1863) and the Ascension Churches, the Ilinsky Church (1790), and the Peter and Paul Church [19] have been preserved.
