History

It was first mentioned in the first half of the 17th century as the possession of the gentry Abramovich; later - the possession of the Mglinsky town hall, then of Furrow and others. The wooden temple of Flora and Lavra in this village was mentioned from 1721 (dismantled at the end of the XVIII century).

Since 1775 - the estate of the favorite of Catherine II Count P.V. Zavadovsky , in which it was also called Ekaterinodar. The stone church of St. Catherine (1793-1799) and the Count's palace-house (1780-1795), built at that time (both buildings were designed by Giacomo Quarenghi ), have partially survived to the present (substantial restoration is required).

Since 1812 - possession of V.V. Engelhardt and his heirs; since the 1850s the manor was a landscape painter and amateur musician N. Atryganyev [1] , who received many famous cultural figures here.

Since the second half of the XVII century. by 1781 the village was part of the Mglinsky hundred of the Starodubsky regiment ; from 1781 to 1921 in Surazh uyezd (from 1861 - the center of Lalichsky volost ); in 1921-1929 in Klintsovsky district (until 1924 - volost center, later in Surazh volost ). From 1919 to 2005 it was the center of the Lyalichsky village council. [2]

In the village was the Church of Flora and Lavra. Church priests [3] :

  • 1764 - Priest Stepan Vasilyevich Tarshevsky
  • 1811-1816 - Priest Efim Ivanovich Kozminsky

Attractions

The estate in Lalichi, founded by Count P.V. Zavadovsky , is an outstanding monument of Russian architecture and landscape gardening art of the Classicism era.

The estate fell into decay, beginning with the death of P.V. Zavadovsky in 1812. A multiple change of ownership led to the beginning of the XX century to the loss of most of the garden and park buildings, interior decoration. At the beginning of the 20th century , F.F. Gornostaev produced and published rather detailed measurements and photographs. In 1913, the magazine " Old Years " wrote:

A question has arisen of great importance about the salvation of the perishing wonderful palace of gr. Zavadovsky in Lalits, built according to the Quarenghi plan in 1775 <...> A. Ya. Beloborodov , sent by the Academy of Arts to study the still-preserved antiquities, made a report on the current state of the palace in the Defense Society <...> Complete restoration is a dream of the distant future, but preservation this survivor is imperative. Fortunately, the palace was only collapsing, but not redone. But this destruction is beyond description ... Details are barbarously destroyed and destroyed. One must still find out how many of them survived ...

After 1917, the process of destruction of the estate became irreversible.

Currently, of the numerous manor buildings, the palace house with galleries and wings (partly the walls of the lower floor of the building with columns of the courtyard portico), a small part of the fence and pylons of the entrance gate, one of the buildings of the greenhouses, converted into a stable, have been preserved in ruin. , and the manor church of St. Catherine without ceilings and interior decoration. On the whole, the majestic Catherine’s church with a unique architectural composition has been preserved: the main volume in the form of a cube, crowned with five domes (central - dominant) and decorated with a powerful semicircular apse in the east, and with an eight-columned portico in the west, which is connected by open transition colonnades with two symmetrically located the belfries.

In 2011, the restoration of the church began, 5 million rubles were allocated from the reserve fund of the governor for restoration [4] . However, by 2013, restoration work was stopped, the temple remains in a dilapidated state.

The park, whose area reached 150 hectares, is cut down and heavily neglected in many places.
