Biography
Oleksa Desnyak was born on March 4 (17), 1909 in a peasant family. In 1931 he graduated from the Chernihiv Institute of Social Education. Began to print in 1928 . After the liberation of the Western Ukrainian lands (1939) he headed the Lviv organization of the Union of Writers of Ukraine. He was the editor-in-chief of the literary-artistic and socio-political magazine " Zhovten " in Lviv .
From the first days of World War II - a war correspondent.
He died on May 25, 1942 in battle during the Great Patriotic War.

Creativity
Desnyak is the author of novels, short stories, essays and short stories. As a war correspondent, he wrote more than 50 stories and essays about the heroism of Soviet soldiers on the fronts of the struggle against the fascists.
The novel “Battalions crossed the Desna” ( 1937 ) is one of the best books about the Civil War in Ukraine, dedicated to Timofey Chernyak . He wrote about him the book “Regiment of Timothy Chernyak” (1938).
The novel “The Uday River” ( 1938 ) depicts the life of the Ukrainian collective farm peasantry during the prewar five-year periods, and the atmosphere of creative work.
The story "Turgai Falcon" ( 1940 ) is dedicated to the hero of the Kazakh people Amangeldy Imanov . The novel "High" (1939, the first part of the conceived trilogy Revolution continues ").
