The Tubes is an American rock band formed in San Francisco , California in 1973 and performing a stylistically diverse proto-punk - / hard rock , in the texts, usually parodying or ridiculing the media and consumer society .

The group, which was considered part of the new wave in the 1970s (and in 1975 achieved success in Britain with the single "White Punks on Dope" # 28) [1] , created scandalous stage productions with elements of burlesque and quasi-eroticism , but at the same time changed her image, presenting herself in an extremely conservative way. [2]
Ten albums of The Tubes (starting with the debut, nominal) were included in the Billboard 200 ; The highest result here (# 46) was Remote Control (1979). [3]
