Acetylene reducer is designed to lower and control the pressure of gas - acetylene coming from a cylinder , ramp or network, and to automatically maintain a constant specified gas working pressure.
General Description
Acetylene gearboxes used in gas welding and metal cutting, painted white and attached to the valves of the cylinders with a collar.
The BAO-5DM gearbox is certified in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The gearbox is manufactured according to GOST 13861-89. The highest allowable gas pressure at the inlet to the gearbox is 25 kgf / cm² , the smallest pressure is 4 kgf / cm² , the highest working pressure is 1.5 kgf / cm² , and the smallest is 0.1 kgf / cm² . At the highest operating pressure, the gas flow rate is 5 m³ / h. The mass of the gearbox is not more than 0.83 kg.
The reducer joins a cylinder with a union collar. Gas, having passed the felt filter, enters the high-pressure chamber. When the adjusting screw is rotated clockwise, the force of the compression spring is transmitted through the pressure plate, diaphragm and pusher to the pressure reducing valve, which, moving, opens the gas passage through the formed gap between the valve and the seat into the working chamber.
The pressure in the cylinder is controlled by a high (inlet) pressure gauge , and in the working chamber - by a low (outlet) pressure gauge. Gas sampling is carried out through a nipple , which is connected to the gearbox with a nut with an M16 × 1.5LH thread. A sleeve with a diameter of 9 or 6 mm is connected to the nipple, going to the burner or torch.

- Trademark of the manufacturer.
- Gearbox brand.
- Year of issue.
Material Requirements [1]
1. Metallic materials. For the manufacture of parts in contact with acetylene, it is not allowed to use:
- copper and its alloys with a copper content of more than 65%;
- silver and its alloys (excluding solders);
- zinc (excluding anticorrosion coatings);
- mercury;
- magnesium.
2. Non-metallic materials (for example, used as sealants and lubricants) in contact with acetylene must be resistant to solvents: acetone and dimethylformamide (DMF)
