Biography

Born March 10, 1953 in the city of Rousse (Ruschuk), located on the banks of the Danube in Bulgaria .

He was educated in theological schools of Sofia - Theological Seminary of St. John of Rila and the Sofia Theological Academy .

From February 1, 1983 until the fall of 1991, he taught at the Sofia Theological Seminary .

October 30, 1989 was tonsured a monk at the Peter and Paul Monastery in the village of Zlatar .

On November 9, 1989, he was ordained a hierodeacon in the church of St. Michael the Archangel in the city of Preslav , and on December 24 of that year in the church of St. Nicholas in Varna , he was ordained hieromonk .

He served in the parishes in the villages of Belish and Kaleits of the Diocese of Lovech of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church .

On July 1, 1991, by a decision of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, he was appointed rector of the Bulgarian Compound in Moscow at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gonchary .

On August 18, 1994, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite .

Since November 1, 2001 - Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Patriarchate and Rector of the Patriarchal Monument Church of the Holy Right Prince Alexander Nevsky in Sofia.

January 15, 2004 he was appointed abbot of the stavropegic Bachkovo monastery .

On February 27, 2008, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Church, he was determined to be a vicar bishop with the title Agafonikiysk ( Bulgarian Agatonikiski ).

On March 22 of the same year, the consecration of Archimandrite Boris to the vicar bishop of Agafonikia took place in the Assumption Church of the Bachkovo Monastery , with his abbot leaving the monastery of Bachkovo. The consecration was performed by the metropolitans Sliven Ioannikiy (Nedelchev) , Vrachansky Kallinik (Aleksandrov) , Vidinsky Domenetian (Topuzliev) , Varna and Velikopreslavsky Kirill (Kovachev) , Rosensky Neophytos (Dimitrov) , Pleven Ignatius of Pleven (Dimov) , Plovdivsky Vychelsky and Nikolayev (Dima) (Radev) [1] .

In 2011, due to his refusal to pay off his debts to the telephone company, the mobile phones of all hierarchs of the Bulgarian Synod and Patriarch Maxim were disconnected [2] .

In January 2014, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, having examined complaints against Bishop Boris, forbade Bishop Boris to perform the priesthood until a final decision is made. On February 19, the Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church allowed to institute a church-judicial investigation against him and on the same day removed it from the administration of the monastery [3] . Until the end of the investigation, he must remain in obedience at the Rila Monastery . His name is also excluded from the lists of candidate bishops for the metropolitan department [4] .
