History
After the breakup of the Pantera group, the Dimbeg brothers Darrell and Winnie Paul Abbott decided to start a new group. As a vocalist, they invited former Halford guitarist Patrick Lehman. In such a composition, the group conducted work on the debut album, which was released on February 10, 2004. The work was called "New Found Power", also originally used to refer to the group itself. Guest appearances on the album were noted by vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarists Zacc Wilde and Jerry Cantrell , with whom the Abbott brothers made friends during a joint tour. Bassist Bob Zilla became a member of the band after the recording of the album was completed. His parts were written and performed in the studio Daymbegom Darrell. In the first week, 44,676 copies were sold.
After the release of their debut album, Damageplan immediately went on tour in support of it. They performed on the same stage with Drowning Pool , Hatebreed , Unearth , and also major at summer festivals in the USA. The group was forced to cease to exist after the incident at a concert in the city of Columbus , which occurred on December 8, 2004. A minute after Damageplan went on stage and opened the set with the song “Breathing New Life”, one of the visitors opened fire in the hall, firing several shots at Darrell's Daimbeg, causing the guitarist to die on the spot.
Having recovered from the tragedy, in 2006 drummer Vinnie Paul created a new project Hellyeah . From late 2007 to early 2014, he also included bassist Bob Zill.
