Biography

In 1915-1917 she studied at the Lysenko Kiev Music and Drama School. She married the actor Iona Shevchenko , with whom in 1916 she became one of the founders of the Young Theater in Kiev. At their apartment on the street. Funduklevskaya 82, May 18, 1916 there was a constituent assembly of the future theater. Samiylenko played on the stage of the Young Theater until 1919: Iocasta (Oedipus Rex by Sophocles), Iola (Iola by Zhulavsky), Elvira ( Tartuffe by Moliere), Maria (Sin by Vinnichenko), Fenka (“Republic on wheels "Mamontov), ​​Laurencia (" Sheep spring " Lope de Vega ), John (" St. John "Show).

In 1920, Samiilenko entered the Second Theater of the Franko SSR, which was located in Vinnitsa. There she met Ambrose Buchma , whom she soon married. In 1921, Buchma’s studio separated from the theater and moved to Cherkasy, and then to Kherson. In Kherson, Polina became seriously ill and the studio had to be liquidated. The couple returned to Kiev, where in 1922 they soon joined Les Burbazil ’s creative association Les Kurbas . In 1926, he moved to Kharkov with the theater. Roles: Yaroslavna ("The Apple Captive" of Dnieper, 1927) and others. In 1930, the couple finally parted, and Samiylenko continued to play in theaters in Odessa, Kamenetz-Podolsky.

In 1934-1947 on the stage of the Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Franko in Kiev. Roles: Sofia (The Last, Gorky, 1937) and others. Since 1947, retired.

The author of memoirs “Unforgettable days of burning” (1971).
