Kolontaev , (in the XVIII century - Kalantayev ; Ukrainian. Kolontaiv ) - a village in the Krasnokutsky district of the Kharkov region of Ukraine . It is the administrative center of the Kolontaevsky village council , which, in addition, includes the villages of Kapranskoye and Kotelevka .

Geographical position

The village of Kolontaev is located on the right bank of the Merla River, upstream adjoins the village of Lyubovka , downstream at a distance of 2 km is the village of Kapranskoe , on the opposite bank are the villages of Zubovka , Komarovka and Berezovka .

The highway T-1701 ( T-1702 ) passes through the village.

History

There are several versions about the time of the foundation of the village of Kolontaev :

  • In 1646 , but this date has not yet been documented.
  • In 1654 , according to the “Construction Book of the City of Kolontayev”. The book sent to Moscow on December 10, 1655 with the tradesman Timofei Shchenshin says: “On August 7162, on August 22, according to Tsar Tsarev and Grand Duke Alexei Mikhailovich, all the great and small and white autocrats of Russia, the boyar and governor Vasily Sheremet yes, okolnichi Fedor Vasurievich Buturlin and clerk Mikita Golovnin traveled from Belagorod to inspect all kinds of fortresses along the ramparts and in which to fix all kinds of fortresses again, but from the military people there would be those fortresses in the back ... yes between Murom sakma and old Bokaev’s grooms on the Merlu river, between the Kolontaev and Grudskov Brods, upon inspection of the okolnicho and governor Fedor Vasurievich Buturlin, they ordered the city to be made of wood chopped with all kinds of fortresses ... ”The city was built by Moscow city nobles and residents, boyar children and soldiers. In the city there were an order hut and a governor’s yard, a state cellar and granaries, a prison with a prison. In 1656, the Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was consecrated in the city of Kolontaev. The church was consecrated by the deacon of the Znamensky monastery of Khotmyshsk, Rodion. [1] Around the three chopped walls of the city to the river a ditch was excavated, 1.5 fathoms without three vertices in width and 1 fathom with three vertices of depth, behind which two hollows were placed with honors, and against the fourth cautious wall was the Merlot River with its swampy shores. Outside the city: beyond the Grudok Gate up the river. On the left side Merlot built a church, a Streltsy, Cossack and Pushkar settlement. Behind the Kolontaevsky gate, on the other side of the city, there was also a church and a Cherkasy settlement to it, it was also planned to build trading shops and a guest yard for merchants there. In the vicinity of the city, a system of fortifications was arranged. [2]
  • 1654 - Date of foundation, according to Archbishop Filaret [3] .

In 1668, the Koltayevsky Cherkasy followed the chieftain Ivan Serk , a supporter of the hetman Ivan Bryukhovetsky . [four]

In July 16, in 1680, during a fire, Kolontaev burned out almost completely. [five]

At the end of the 19th century, according to the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary , the settlement of Kolontaev belonged to the Bogodukhov district of the Kharkov province and was one of the oldest settlements in the region. In the settlement there were 4838 inhabitants in 851 courtyards who owned more than 10 thousand acres of land, there were 3 churches, a school and 6 shops. [6]
