Gaines County is the county of Texas in the United States of America . For the year 2000, lived in it 14 467 people. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2008 the county’s population was 15 081 people. [1] The district center is the city of Seminole . Gaines County is one of the 46 “dry” Texas counties, that is, counties that have a “dry law.”

History
Gaines County was formed in 1905 from part of Shackleford County [2] . It was named after James Gaines, one of the signatories to the Texas Declaration of Independence .
