Report [1] (from French rapport [2] , rapporter - to inform, report) - report [3] , an official oral or written report ( message ) from a subordinate to a superior, mainly in military affairs , when addressing chiefs ( commanders ) in the course of official activity about something, as well as on the fulfillment of obligations undertaken.
The report may contain a report on the work done or an appeal to the authorities.
In the marine dictionary “Report” - a document submitted to the customs of the state of arrival by the shipowner or his agent upon arrival of the vessel at the port, indicating detailed data on the composition of the cargo, passengers, the last port of loading and the place of unloading of goods and passengers.
In the service document - the report , the military personnel are informed of the commander (chief), in the established form, issues related to the performance of official duties, performance of service and others. In the form of a report, requests, proposals and statements of military personnel are also drawn up.
History
The term was introduced by Peter I. In Peter's time, the term existed in two forms - report and report . Most likely, the first form came through the Polish language, the second - through English. In turn, in these languages it was borrowed from French , where rapport means a report (from rapporter - “to convey”, porter - “to carry”). [4] [5] .
