Design Web Format (DWF) is an open file format developed by Autodesk to share design data, view, print, and review it.

Data in DWF files is compressed, so project data is exchanged much faster. Compression reduces the cost of sending drawings created in CAD (as well as managing external links and dependencies). DWF allows you to select specific design data for viewing by interested parties and publish multisheet sets of drawings from several DWG files to a single DWF file.
DWF files do not replace CAD file formats ( DWG or IPT ): editing and updating project data is still performed in CAD files.
Autodesk Design Review is used to view and print DWF files, take measurements, mark and take measurements.
The DWF format allows you to view projects on computers where CAD packages are not installed ( AutoCAD , 3ds Max , etc.). DWF files are locked from changes, only markups are possible.
Creating DWF files in AutoCAD is possible both through the printing procedure by the virtual plotter DWF6 eplot, and other export tools.
In 2009, a new version of the format was released - DWFx based on the XPS format, which can be viewed with alternative programs such as Microsoft XPS Viewer [2] .
