Kastelnovskaya culture , fr. Castelnovien is a prehistoric cultural horizon of the Mesolithic era, mainly in the territory of modern Provence . The name of the culture was given by the archaeologist Max Escalon de Fonton in the Latinized form of the name of the cave Châteauneuf-les-Martigues in the department of Bouches-du-Rhone . It existed in the southeast of France, and, apparently, stood out from the Montandy horizon .
Kastelnovskaya culture chronologically refers to 6 thousand BC. e., to the boreal climate period.
Later, Castellian culture was absorbed by newcomers - carriers of cardiac culture , which, in turn, took many of its traditions.
