Platform hd

“Platform HD” is the now defunct Russian satellite television operator that broadcast a package of HD- quality channels in the European territory of the Russian Federation. In addition, the HD Platform package of channels was available for retransmission to cable networks.

Company History

  • August 19, 2008 - the beginning of commercial broadcasting of a package of 4 channels. It is planned to connect 200 thousand subscribers in two years [1] .
  • December 2, 2008 - the company agreed with Eutelsat to increase the capacity leased on the Eurobird 9A satellite. According to CEO Yashin, this will increase the number of broadcast channels [2] .
  • February 1, 2009 - broadcasting of a package of 19 Russian air and satellite channels began [3] .
  • May 2009 - the channels “Film Screening HD-2”, “Television Travel HD”, “Female World” and “High Life” were added to the package.
  • February 2, 2010 - presentation at the CSTB-2010 exhibition of Russia's first broadcast in 3D format [4] .
  • February 15, 2010 - for the period of the XXI Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, the “ Sport 2 ” channel was added to the Platform HD package [5] .
  • April 1, 2010 - the television channel produced by NTV-Plus “ HD Sport ” was added to the package [6] .
  • May 21, 2010 - the first Russian 3D-channel 3DV was added to the package. The broadcast is based on programs about culture and travel, as well as productions of the Mariinsky Theater. Until January 1, 2011, a channel viewing fee will not be charged [7] .
  • June 10, 2010 - for the period of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the “ Sport 2 ” channel was added to the Platform HD package [8] .
  • September 28, 2010 - “ Sport 1 HD ” TV channel was added to the package
  • January 1, 2012 - left the package, and the High Life channel was completely closed
  • February 2012 - there was information that the "Platform HD" will soon cease operations. Soon, all the channels of the Platform will move to Tricolor TV .
  • March 30, 2012 is the last day of registering subscribers of the Platform HD.
  • July 1, 2012 - the official termination of the existence of the satellite company Platform HD. [9]
