The settlement was founded by Samuel Boyer and his wife Sarah, allegedly around 1886. The original name is Boyertown [1] . The name of Maseppa was given to the settlement by teacher Clement Edmunds in 1886, based on the work of Mazepp by Lord Byron . In 1788, the first mill was built in the city, which functioned until 1981. Through the city of Mazeppa is the road number 1001.
