Vivaldan

Vivaldan ( Brazilian port. Vivaldão ) or Vivaldo Lima Stadium ( Brazilian port. Estádio Vivaldo Lima ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Manaus , Brazil . Used primarily for football matches.

The stadium was owned by the Amazonas state government and bore the name Vivaldo Lima , founder of the Nacional Fast Club football team. In 2010 it was demolished, in its place the stadium "Amazonia" was built.

History

Construction took place in 1958 - 1970 . By 1970, the arena was finally built and the opening match was played here on April 5 of that year. The second Brazilian national team beat the national team of the stars of Amazonas with a score of 4: 1, and soon the main national team of Brazil repeated the same result. The first goal in the history of the arena was scored by striker of the second national team of Brazil Dada Maravilla .

The record for attendance at the Vivaldan arena was set on March 9, 1980 , when 56,950 spectators attended the Fast Club and New York Cosmos games from the USA . The match ended with the score 0-0.

On May 31, 2009, Manaus was chosen as one of the cities that will host the matches of the final stage of the 2014 World Cup . For this event, a new stadium was built on the site of Vivaldan - Amazonia .

March 19, 2010 Vivaldan was closed. The stadium was demolished on October 7 of that year. In its place was built "Amazonia."
