The current flag was approved on May 15, 2012 [1] and on July 2, 2012 it was entered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with assignment of registration number 7755 [2] .

Description
The description of the flag approved by the decision of the Sharypovsky City Council of Deputies dated May 15, 2012 No. 28-200 [1] , reads:
“The flag is identical to the coat of arms.”
The website of the Union of Heraldists of Russia (flag co-developers) provides a not so concise description of the flag:
“A rectangular double-sided panel with a ratio of width to length 2: 3, consisting of three horizontal stripes of blue, yellow and blue (in the ratio of 7: 6: 7). In the center of the panel is an eight-pointed red star bearing a white lightning. ” [3]
The description of the first flag approved by the decision of the Sharypovsky City Council of March 9, 2004 No. 16-120 [4] , read:
“The flag of the city of Sharypovo is a rectangular panel of three equal horizontal stripes: the upper and lower - azure, middle - yellow. The ratio of the width of the flag to its length is 2: 3 units.
In the center of the flag is a fragment of the city’s coat of arms with a ratio of 1.25: 1.46 units: a stylized image of an eight-pointed scarlet-purple star whose rays are oriented to the cardinal points; horizontal rays form a white lightning. ”
Justification of Symbols
Symbols of the flag of the city of Sharypovo:
- star - an allegory of the energy potential of the city represented by the Berezovsky brown coal deposit, discovered in 1959. The star is a symbol of guidance, aspiration for the future, insight, purpose;
- lightning symbolizes the Berezovskaya TPP , one of the main production facilities of the city. Lightning is a symbol of insight, a symbol of creative and at the same time destructive divine power;
- the color scheme of the banner symbolizes the city itself (a golden belt stretching along the banks of numerous rivers) and the Berezovsky reservoir (blue color) from which the city begins.
Blue color (light blue ) is a symbol of exalted aspirations, sincerity, devotion, rebirth.
Yellow color ( gold ) is a symbol of the highest value, greatness, magnanimity, wealth.
Red color is a symbol of labor, courage, life-affirming power, beauty and celebration.
White color ( silver ) is a symbol of purity, openness, divine wisdom, reconciliation.
