David Alan Mamet ( born November 30, 1947 , Chicago ) is an American playwright, essayist, screenwriter , film director , film producer and film actor . 1984 Pulitzer Prize Laureate for the play [1] .

Personal life
David Mamet was born in Chicago , in the family of lawyer Bernard Morris Mamet (1923-1991) and teacher Linor June Mamet (nee Silver ); and father and mother came from Jewish immigrant families from Russia and Poland . [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] .
He was married to actress Lindsay Kraus . From his first marriage, Mamet has two children - Villa and . He is currently married to Rebecca Pidgeon , from whom he has two children - Clara and Noah. David practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu [7] .
In recent years, he has published several books of fiction and essays reflecting his increased interest in the philosophy of Judaism (The Old Religion, 2002; The Wicked Son: Anti-Semitism, Self-Hatred and the Jews, 2006) and increasingly conservative political beliefs (The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of American Culture, 2011).
