Located in the suburban area of Kazan within the borders of Zelenodolsky district . It flows through the territory of the Volga-Kama Reserve (Raifsky site).

General Information
The length of the river is 36 km. It originates in a forest 1.5 km west of the village of Gremyachy Klyuch , 8.5 km north of the Kazan bypass road . The direction of the current is southwest. In the upper and middle reaches, for a considerable extent, it flows among the forest. It falls into the mouth bay of the Kuibyshev reservoir near the western outskirts of the village of Vasilievo [3] .
It flows in the middle and lower reaches through the flowing lakes Belo-Bezvodnoe (a natural monument of regional significance), Raifsky (in the reserve) and Ilyinsky [3] .
The flow of the river is slow. In the lower reaches, the channel is winding, forms old women, at the mouth it is divided into ducts.
It has 5 tributaries with a total length of 21 km. The main tributary is Ashlanka (pr) in the lower reaches.
The forest cover of the catchment is 49%. There are 46 lakes in the catchment, with a total area of 3.9 km².
The largest settlements on the river (1-3 thousand people; 2010): villages Aisha , Belo-Bezvodnoe ; in the pool - also the villages of Big Keys , New Paraty ( Mari El ).
At the mouth of the river, the new and old routes of the A295 Yoshkar-Ola-Kazan highway and the Moscow-Kazan-Yekaterinburg railway line cross [3] .

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Upper Volga basin district , the Volga river water sector from the Cheboksary hydroelectric complex to the city of Kazan , without the Sviyaga and Civil rivers, the river Volga river basin from the Oka inlet to the Kuibyshev reservoir (without the Sura basin). The river basin - (Upper) Volga to the Kuibyshev reservoir (without the Oka basin) [2] .

Interesting Facts
In the village of Mestechko Raifa, on the shore of Lake Raifa, the Raifsky Bogoroditsky Monastery is located - an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, a place of pilgrimage for believers and tourists.
