Pinegin, Nikolay Vasilyevich

Nikolai Vasilyevich Pinegin ( April 27 ( May 10 ) 1883 , Elabuga - October 18, 1940 , Leningrad ) - Russian writer, artist, researcher of the North. Member of the expedition G. Ya. Sedov on the ship “St. the martyr Fock ” [1] .

Biography

Educated at the Vyatka real school, after studying at the Perm gymnasium, from which he was expelled for refusing to attend church services.

In 1901 he entered the Kazan Art School , and in 1907 continued his studies at the Higher Art School at the Imperial Academy of Arts .

In 1908, sent to the North. After swimming along the Murmansk coast, Pinegin’s first literary work, the Ainu Islands, appeared, describing bird markets .

In the summer of 1910, N.V. Pinegin went to Novaya Zemlya and lived there for three months. He visits the bays on the western shore of the northern island of New Earth .

Simultaneously with him in the Cross Bay, where Olginsky village was founded, there is a fleet lieutenant Georgy Yakovlevich Sedov , who heads a hydrographic expedition. Their acquaintance develops into a friendship.

In 1912, N.V. Pinegin takes part in an expedition to the North Pole , organized by G.Ya. Sedov.

During the expedition, N. V. Pinegin as an artist, photographer and documentary filmmaker shot the first documentary film about the Arctic [2] .

In 1916, N. V. Pinegin graduated from the Petersburg Academy of Arts. Subsequently, he is engaged in the processing of the diary, which led to "St. Fock. The result of this work was the famous book on the Arctic "In the icy expanses" (Berlin, 1922). In the Soviet period - the head of wintering on the New Siberian Islands, founded the Arctic station on Lyakhovsky Island.

Buried on the Literary gangway.

Memory

  • Mr. Ya. Sedov named the western island of the southern Krestovy Islands and the western cape at the entrance to the gulf of Inostrantsev after Pinegin.
  • In 1974, the film “ George Sedov ” was shot, where the role of N. V. Pinegin was played by V. A. Grammatikov .
