The Church of Sweden since 1527 is the Lutheran People's Church , the largest religious organization in Sweden. The church of Sweden is divided into thirteen dioceses ( Swedish stift ), one of which is the Uppsala diocese - is an archdiocese with two bishops (archbishop and bishop of Uppsala). The activities of the diocese are also regulated by the diocese delegates, elected in open elections every four years. The diocese is divided into “contracts” ( Swedish kontrakt ), which are divided into parishes ( Swedish församlingar ). One or more counties can together form a larger parish ( Swede. Pastorat ).
