History

The Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University (formerly the All-Union Agricultural Institute of Correspondence Education) was established in 1930.

On October 20, 1930, a decision was made at the collegium of the People's Commissariat of the USSR to unite the institutes of correspondence agricultural training of the People's Commissariat of the USSR and the RSFSR with the creation on their basis of the Institute of mass correspondence training and retraining of agricultural personnel of the People's Commissariat of the USSR and the People's Commissariat of the RSFSR - TsIZO. [2] [3]

In 1935, the CIZO was reorganized into the All-Union Institute of Advanced Training and Distance Education (VIPKIZO). [four]

In 1941, the Institute for Advanced Physics and the correspondence departments of the Timiryazev Academy , the Moscow Institute of Land Reclamation , the Moscow Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture and the Moscow Institute of Land Management were merged into the All-Union Institute of Correspondence Education (USSR VIZO). [four]

During World War II, the institute was evacuated to the city of Omsk , after the end of the war the institute returned to the base of the Moscow Agricultural Academy . [four]

In 1946, the VIZO was reorganized into the All-Union Agricultural Institute of Correspondence Education ( VSHIZO ) and was reassigned to the USSR Ministry of Higher Education. [four]

In the years 1946-1954, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces of Science located on the territory of the Moscow Agricultural Academy and used its training base. At that time, the institute consisted of three faculties: agronomic, zootechnical and engineering. [four]

An important event in the development of the university, which determined all its further activities, was the receipt at the end of 1954 of an independent training base at the Pehra-Yakovlevskoye estate in the city of Balashikha .

Until 1954, the Moscow Fur Institute was located in the estate, a great contribution to the development of which was made by Ivan Medvedev , who led them in 1939-1954.

All educational buildings of the Moscow Fur Institute were transferred to VSHIZO. Many scientists and teachers of the institute also went to work at the All-Union Center of High Security. [four]

In 1955, 20 departments already worked at the institute. By this time, the institute served as the educational and methodological center of the system of higher agricultural education.

In 1956, full-time and part-time postgraduate studies were opened, and since 1961 the institute has been allowed to accept master's theses in agricultural, technical and economic sciences.

July 16, 1980. VSHIZO was awarded the Order "Badge of Honor" . [five]

In 1995, in accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the All- Union State Security and Defense Information Institute was renamed the Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University (RGAZU).

In 2001, by order of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia No. 1104 of December 27, 2001, the university was given the status of a federal state educational institution of higher professional education.

In 2011, the university was renamed by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation of May 23, 2011 No. 132 “On the renaming of FSEI HPE and their branches” to the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher professional education “Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University”.

University today

There are about 12,000 students enrolled at RGAZU. The university has a license for educational activities in the field of secondary and higher vocational education dated March 11, 2013 No. 0584. [6] The university has a branch: Tula Agribusiness Institute (300007, Tula region, Tula, Oboronnaya st., 95 ) [7] .

The main base of the university is located on an area of 56 hectares - in the central part of the city district of Balashikha . The university’s unique distinction is a picturesque park with the Pehra-Yakovlevskoye estate, which is a monument of architecture of federal significance.

On the territory occupied by RGAZU, there are 14 educational buildings, 3 student dormitories, a gym, a hotel, a library, a reading room, a canteen, a printing house.

A special place in the activities of the university is a scientific library, which contains unique funds - more than a million copies, including those containing the results of modern scientific research. The university has its own publishing center and printing facilities to provide all the necessary staff and students.

Thus, RGAZU is one of the largest and leading training and production centers for the preparation of specialists meeting the modern requirements for the agro-industrial complex and other sectors of the national economy of the Russian Federation.
