The seven holy robbers of Kerkir ( Septem Latrones ) were martyred on the island of Corfu (Corfu) in the second century. Their names are Saturninus , Iakiskhol (Insischolus, Jakischolus), Faustianus , Ianuarius , Marsalius , Euphrasius and Mammius . According to the Greek menology, the holy apostles from seventy Jason and Sosipater , arrived on the island on the island of Corfu to preach the gospel of Christ. According to their sermons, many turned to the Lord, but the apostles themselves were thrown into prison, where the seven indicated robbers remained. The holy apostles succeeded in the conversion of the robbers, who were then taken outside the city and martyred there, being thrown into boilers filled with boiling oil and tar.
