Non / fiction ( Non / fictio№ ) - International Fair for Intellectual Literature ( Eng.International Fair for Hiqh-quality fiction and non-fiction ). It takes place in Moscow at the Central House of Artists annually from 1999 in late November - early December.

During the fair, round tables, seminars, lectures, film screenings, meetings of writers and publishers with readers, competitions “The Art of the Book. Traditions and search ”and“ The best bookstore in Moscow ”, a children's playground“ Territory of knowledge ”is operating, prizes are awarded:

According to the director of Expo-Park Vasily Bychkov, "the fair was conceived as a territory of independent art, an alternative intellectual thought . " For the first time, 40 publishing houses gathered at the Central House of Artists [2] .

Already in 2004, the Izvestia newspaper wrote that “from a chamber, if not marginal, event, which seemed to have very vague prospects, Non / fiction turned into the most prestigious domestic book forum” [3] .

In 2005, two fairs were simultaneously held at the Central House of Artists: Non / fiction and Book Antique. The guest of honor was Poland [4] [5] .

In 2008, Finland became an honorary guest of Non / fiction [6] , in connection with which the screening of the documentary film “Nature of Finland” took place and the exhibition of the artist Jan-Eric Andersson “I dreamed that I was a Moomin dad” was held. A round table was devoted to the economic crisis on the theme “Economic crisis = The heyday of culture?” [2] But the main topic was children and children's literature [7] [8] . The fair was held November 26-30.

In 2009, the fair was held from December 2 to 6. The number of announced participants is 283 [9] .

In 2010, the fair was held from December 1 to 5, it was visited by 32 thousand people, the attendance record was set on Sunday - at the same time, 8533 people were in the halls of the Central House of Artists [10] . More than 280 publishers and bookstores from 16 countries took part. After this, Advertology.Ru noted that “the popular forum of“ smart ”literature has become a well-known brand in recent years” [11] .

In 2011, the fair from November 30 to December 4 [12] was visited by almost 35 thousand people [13] [14] . With the support of embassies and cultural centers [15] , over 40 foreign guests from the UK, Germany, Denmark, Israel, Spain, Norway, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Japan participated in the fair [14] . Within the framework of the fair, the Russian presentation of the new book by Umberto Eco [16] was held . The Expert magazine called this fair “perhaps the most successful in its entire history” [17] , and the NG-Exlibris newspaper, on the contrary, noted “a drop in the general intellectual degree” [18] .

In 2012, the fair was held from November 28 to December 2.

In 2014, the fair was dedicated to the memory of translator and sociologist B.V. Dubin [19] , 13 countries of the world participated [20] .

In 2016, about 300 participants from 20 countries gathered at the fair, more than 400 events were planned at nine discussion platforms and at the exhibitors' stands. The main program is attended by well-known Russian literary, cultural and public figures, including Evgeny Bunimovich , Dmitry Bykov , Mikhail Weller , Evgeny Vodolazkin , Vladimir Voinovich , Denis Dragunsky , Alexei Kara-Murza , Boris Messerer , Gleb Pavlovsky , Lev Rubinstein , Lyudmila Ulitskaya . From foreign participants: Janusz Leon Wisniewski - Poland, economist Sylvia Nazar - USA, Fuminori Nakamura - Japan and others. [21]

In 2017, the guest of honor was absent.

In 2018, Italy was declared an honored guest.

Fair Guests

At different times, the honorary guests of the Fair were: France , Germany , Scandinavia (Norway [22] , Finland, Sweden), Japan, Hungary, Poland [5] , Israel, Spain.

In 2009, the Czech Republic was the guest of honor of the fair. As part of the Czech program, meetings were held with Czech writers at the fair at the Central House of Artists, at the Czech Center and the Moscow clubs UGI Street, Apsu, Bilingua, as well as film screenings and concerts. Non-Fiction was personally attended by 20 Czech publishers who came to establish contacts with Russian colleagues [23] .

In 2010, France was again an honored guest of the fair [24] ; Jean-Christophe Granger attended the opening.
