Description
“The flag of the Meshchovsky district is a rectangular green cloth with a ratio of width to length 2: 3, reproducing three yellow ears in the center, the middle one is higher than the lateral in 7/9 width of the cloth each”.
Justification of Symbols
The city of Meshchovsk , the center of the district, has a rich history: for the first time Meshchovsk is mentioned in the annals of 1238 as one of the destinies of the Seversky land. In the XV century, the city was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , in 1504 it was annexed to the Moscow state, in 1584 withstood the siege of the Crimean Khan, in 1608 - False Dmitry II .
The Meshchovsky district is the heraldic successor of the city of Meshchovsk to the full, and assigning the historic city coat of arms of 1777, which remains in force , to the entire district is quite justified and meets modern heraldic and legal requirements.
Three ears allegorically show that most of the territory of the district is occupied by agricultural land, and the inhabitants of the region work in the agricultural sector of the economy.
Yellow color (gold) is the color of the sun, hidden treasures and wealth, grain, fertility, the elixir of life, symbolizes greatness, respect, magnificence.
Green color complements the symbolism of the nature of the area, and also symbolizes abundance, life, rebirth, health.
