Ryazan governorship is an administrative-territorial unit of the Russian Empire , which existed in 1778 - 1796 . Center - the city of Ryazan .

The governorship was formed on August 24, 1778 from Pereyaslav-Ryazan province of Moscow province .
On December 12, 1796, the governorship was transformed into the Ryazan province , and the Dankovsky, Yegoryevsky and Spassky districts were abolished.
