History
On September 1, 1967, secondary school No. 9 was opened.
On June 26, 1990, by decision of the Executive Committee of the Kirov-Chepetsk City Council of People’s Deputies, school No. 9 received the status of “Gymnasium”. On June 18, 1993, by the decision of the administration of the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk, the School-Gymnasium was renamed the Kirovo-Chepetsk Gymnasium.
October 17, 2001 by order of the mountains. The administration of the Kirov-Chepetsk gymnasium became known as the Municipal Educational Institution "Gymnasium No. 1 of the city of Kirov-Chepetsk of the Kirov Region." Since 2010, the gymnasium has been transferred from municipal subordination to the regional [2] .
Educational process
For many years, the selection to the first grade of gymnasium No. 1 was carried out on the basis of tests and interviews (most of the children went through the preparatory class "School of Development" [3] ). After the decision was made to accept, on the basis of the chronological order of applications, it turned out that several hundred children were applying for 75 places in the first classes of the gymnasium, due to the high prestige of the gymnasium in the city [2] .
In the gymnasium, a foreign language is studied in depth (English, German, French). The first foreign language is taught from the 2nd grade, and in the 5th grade, all high school students study the Latin language [4] . In the 6th grade, all students begin to learn a second foreign language. Students also study rhetoric, the integrative course "World Art Culture and Information and Communication Technologies", are engaged in choreography and rhythm. In grades 10-11 - an individual curriculum. Individualization is ensured by the students' choice of options for studying subjects (basic, advanced, specialized), forms of training (full-time, part-time, external), topics and directions of creative, research and project activities. Each high school student can choose and study subjects at a profile level (in accordance with the license: Russian, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, literature, history, social studies). Rarer profiles are also formed based on the individual preferences of the students; So, in the gymnasium there is a linguomathematical profile with additional time to study mathematics [4] . In total, in the educational process of the gymnasium, as of 2011, 146 curricula are being implemented [2] .
In the gymnasium, there is a lot of extracurricular work, about a hundred circles and sections of various orientations are active.
The gymnasium participates in international programs: Interculture, FLEX, Goethe Institute programs, and UN programs. Modern pedagogical technologies are widely used in the practice of teaching and upbringing: developmental education (the concept of D. B. Elkonin - V.V. Davydov ), project method, modular technology, different levels of differentiation, problem-based learning, information and communication technologies.
High school students from the first grade keep a “diary of achievements”, where all their successes are recorded [4] . Representatives of the gymnasium have repeatedly shown good results at subject Olympiads of the all-Russian level [5] , one of the gymnasium students was invited to Poland in 2004 to participate in the international competition “The First Step to the Nobel Prize in Physics” [4] . The gymnasium regularly takes first place in the city in the number of medalists; So, in the 2008/9 academic year, among the graduates of the gymnasium, 16 received gold medals and 9 - silver. Since the beginning of the new millennium, more than 90% of gymnasium graduates annually (100% in the 2008/8 academic year) go to higher education institutions [3] .
