Creativity
Jennifer Durran studied at Brighton College of Art from 1959 to 1963 and at the Slade School of Art in London from 1963 to 1966. She traveled to the United States in 1972, where she became interested in the works of Pollock , Gorky , Newman , Rothko , Maurice and Smith .
The works of Durran were recognized for their "symbolic resonance." The abstract forms that distinguish her work often involve natural processes, but resist determination. Her work is often discussed in terms of spirituality.
Durran participated in The Journey: A Search for the Role of Contemporary Art in Religious and Spiritual Life (1990), during which one of her works, Arrival, was shown at Lincoln Cathedral. She herself said: "I think that painting can be like a mandala - its use can be meditative or contemplative."
