Biography

The son of a doctor [1] Vladimir Borisovich Pinkenson and his wife Feni Moiseevna. His ancestor, one of the founders of the Pinkenson medical dynasty, was the very first doctor of the Balti Zemstvo hospital since its inception - back in 1882 . From childhood, he learned to play the violin, and when he was five years old, a local newspaper already wrote about him as a violinist-child prodigy.

In 1941, Vladimir Pinkenson received a referral to a military hospital in Ust-Labinsk . In the summer of 1942, German troops occupied the village of Ust-Labinsk, and so quickly that the hospital did not have time to evacuate. Soon the Pinkenzon family was arrested as Jews . Among the others sentenced to death, they were taken to the shore of the Kuban , where they drove residents from all over the village . The soldiers placed the prisoners along the iron fence in front of a deep moat [2] . Before the execution Musya played the violin “ Internationale ” and was immediately killed [3] .

After World War II, the feat of Musi Pinkenzon became widely known first through articles in the central press and radio programs. In particular, in 1945, information about his act and death was published in the newspaper Pravda [3] . And then she was picked up not only in many parts of the USSR , but also in Europe and America . At the place of the violinist’s execution, a multi-meter obelisk was installed [4] , which was replaced by a concrete monument in the late 1970s.

Perpetuation of memory

  • The name of Musi Pinkenzon was borne by the pioneer squad of school No. 1 of the city of Ust-Labinsk [5] , it has an exposition about a brave dweller. A memorial plaque to Musi’s memory is hanging at the school with the inscription: “The hero, the pioneer Musya Pinkenson, studied at this school. He was shot by Nazi fascists in January 1943 ” [6] .
  • The writer Saul Naumovich Itskovich (1934-1988) wrote about him the book “The Shot Violin”.
  • The book "Musya Pinkenzon (about the pioneer hero)" was published. - M.: Kid , 1967 [7] . Subsequently, this book was translated into a number of languages [8] .
  • Based on the feat of Musi Pinkenzon, the cartoon “The Pioneer Violin ” was delivered to the USSR (Soyuzmultfilm, 1971 Director Boris Stepantsev, scriptwriter Yuri Yakovlev, cameraman Mikhail Druyan. 8 min.).
  • The former Pushkin Lane in Balti has been bearing his name since 2007, and a memorial plaque was hung on the recently built Hesed Yaakov community house.
  • In a side street on Rustaveli Street (Tbilisi, Georgia) near the 34th house there is a monument to him.
