Content

Name Origin

It got its modern name in 1940 in memory of the battles of 1905 on Presnya . Previously, the Presnenskaya Zastava or the Presnenskaya Zastava Square, where the word zastava meant a barrier blocked at the intersection of Bolshaya Presnenskaya Street ( Krasnaya Presnya Street since 1918) with Kamer-Kollezhsky Val. On the road that continued the street west beyond the rampart, the outpost was also called Zvenigorodskaya.

In the 1970s, an electric light weather informant stood on the square, which reported on the weather in Moscow, the capitals of the Union republics, the water temperature in the Moscow region, and the weather forecast for the next three days. According to the plans of the 1970s, the square was to become the center of the memorial complex, perpetuating the feat of the working class in the 1905 revolution [1] .

Description

Krasnopresnenskaya Zastava Square is part of the former Kamer-Kollezhsky Val between Trekhgorny Val and Presnensky Val Streets. From the east, Krasnaya Presnya Street faces it, which crosses the square to Zvenigorodskoye Highway. From the west, the area is bounded by 1905 Street, onto which Bolshaya Dekabrskaya Street faces here.

A monument to the revolution of 1905 (1981, sculptors O. A. Ikonnikov, V. A. Fedorov , architects M. E. Konstantinov, A. M. Polovnikov, V. M. Fursov is located at the southern entrance hall of Ulitsa 1905 goda metro station) ) [2] .
