After the death of Alphonse I Jordan, his eldest son and brother Alphonse II Raimund V inherited the county of Toulouse and the Marquisate Provence . Immediately after the accession, Raimund V made his brother his co-ruler. Almost nothing is known about the rule of Alphonse, unlike Raimund. In 1171, Roger II Trancavel , Viscount Beziers , Albi and Carcassonne , swore allegiance to Alphonse II. The latter is referred to as the Count of Toulouse , Marquis of Provence and the Duke of Narbonne . In 1175/1189 , Alfons confirmed the donation of Henry II , King of England , to the Chartres Cathedral. After this year, there was no mention of Alfonso. He probably died before his brother Raimund, who died in 1194 and most likely became the sole ruler of Toulouse , since Alphonse did not leave direct heirs.
