Volgograd trolley bus

Trolleybus traffic in Stalingrad opened on December 31, 1960 . The first route connected the Central and Krasnooktyabrsky districts of the city.

The first trolleybus depot was built in the Krasnooktyabrsky district. Now it has the status of a trolleybus fleet and continues to be used for its intended purpose.

Initially, the fleet consisted of only 20 MTB-82D type trolley buses, ^{[2] the} very first detachment of trolley bus drivers consisted of 30 people. They began to cook back in May 1960 . Cadets were recruited from drivers of the first and second classes. The trolleybus business was taught to them by teachers who arrived from Saratov . The trolleybus driver's courses lasted three months, so the students after graduation had to wait a few more months for work to begin.

Over the years, the route network has been actively developing, and there were 16 routes, and the number of trolleybuses exceeded 300 units. Active development of the trolleybus continued until 2010. The last new route number 10a was opened on March 12, 2018 .

The trolleybus system today is in a state of degeneration: depots in the Krasnoarmeysk and Kirov districts have been closed in recent years, the depot in the Dzerzhinsky district has been converted into a repair base, and the number of routes has been significantly reduced. Since 2013, the renewal of the trolleybus fleet has stopped, due to the high degree of wear of the rolling stock, its number is being reduced due to write-offs, the movement of trolleybuses in the Krasnoarmeysk and Kirov districts of the city is completely stopped, lines along the Aviator Highway from Zemlyachki Street to Rybokompleks, along Mira and Simbirtseva Streets , from Lenin Avenue along Krasnoznamenskaya Street and the 62nd Army Embankment to the River Station and the almost completely “Red Army” network, lines along the 2nd Longitudinal Highway and Avtomobilistov Street from s poplar to shoe factories, according to Mihailova Street Lower VgTZ village preserved and not used.

At the moment, the trolleybus network consists of 5 operating routes operated by the trolleybus fleet (depot No. 4), and 202 trolleybuses, of which it operates on routes no more than 150.

Since 2006, MUE Metroelectrotrans periodically holds lotteries for the drawing of prizes among passengers of trolleybuses and trams. At the same time, lottery tickets are tickets for a one-time trip in electric vehicles. In 2006, specially issued tickets with a protective layer, issued by conductors in the cabin, as well as half-month travel tickets for one type of electric transport participated in the drawing. ^[3]

From December 1, 2009, the fare was increased from 8 to 10 rubles, and from January 1, 2010, free travel for students in grades 1-11 was canceled. From June 1, 2012 the fare is 12 rubles, from July 1, 2015 - 15 rubles ^[4]

On December 30, 2013 at 8:25 at the Kachinskoye School stop one trolleybus of route 15 was blown up, which followed from the hospital complex, to which the victims of the terrorist attack committed the day before were delivered ^[5] . A criminal case has been instituted on the fact of the explosion under Articles 205 (“terrorist attack”) and 222 (“illegal arms trafficking”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ^[6] .

Это случилось в момент начала движения от остановки «Качинское училище», напротив Качинского рынка. Салон троллейбуса полностью выгорел. Водитель транспортного средства остался жив, но долгое время находился в шоковом состоянии. По предварительным данным, ранения при взрыве получили 28 человек, 14 человек погибли. Теракт совершил террорист-смертник.
