Dai Nippon Butokukai , also Dai Nippon Butoku-kai, Dai Nippon Butoku kai, DNBK ( Japanese 大 日本 武 徳 会 ) - Society of Military Virtue of Great Japan.
History
A Japanese public organization created by prominent martial artists (budo) in Kyoto in 1895 at the Shinto shrine of Heian-jingu to preserve the traditions of teaching and teaching budo , as well as to promote the true spirit of Japanese martial arts. It has become a kind of elite order of masters of budo, membership in which could be inherited, and the head of which is traditionally one of the members of the imperial family.
Among the founders of Dai Nippon Butokukai were almost all the major martial artists of Japan, the most famous of which today remains the creator of Kodokan judo, Dr. Kano Jigoro . Under his leadership, as well as under the guidance of his colleagues - masters of other martial arts, formal complexes were created - judo and kendo kata , the Special Budo School - Budo Sammon Gakko was established, these martial arts were included in the program of secondary schools in Japan, and even approved a special form for judo classes - judogi .
By the beginning of World War II, Dai Nippon Butokukai had great authority and decisive importance for the development of budo, approving or not approving new styles (for example, karate and aikido “saw the light” only after the adoption of an appropriate decision of this organization), conducting attestations and organizing training trainers (by 1941 in Japan there were more than 3 million “black belts” who had passed certification in Butokuden - the main training center of Dai Nippon Butokukai in Kyoto).
In 1945, Dai Nippon Butokukai was dissolved as an organization closely associated with the education and promotion of the militaristic spirit. However, already in 1952, Dai Nippon Butokukai was revived in a new capacity and since then has been active in researching, teaching and preserving the traditions of budo in Japan. The organization’s headquarters was moved to the Søren-in Buddhist monastery, the abbot of which is the uncle of the reigning emperor Akihito, Prince Higashifushimi Dzigo, became president of BC. Since 1992, the International Department of DNBK has been operating, the head of which was immediately appointed an outstanding martial arts master, professor at Dominion University (USA) Hamada Tessin. Since 1998, DNBK has been conducting not only All-Japanese, but also international Military Virtue Festivals - Butokusai, where hundreds of organization members from dozens of countries demonstrate their possession of different types of Japanese budo, hold seminars and special trainings led by legendary Japanese masters. Since 2002, the Russian delegation has been taking part in these events, led by the official representative of the organization in Russia, kyoshi (the warrior’s mentor is one of the highest titles of Dai Nippon Butokukai) A. D. Arabadzhiev . His style school - Kojitsu Jisen Budo - is listed in the register of schools and styles of Dai Nippon Butokukai.
