The flag of the Babayevsky municipal district is an identification mark drawn up and used in accordance with vexillological rules, serving as a symbol of a municipality, the unity of its territory, population, rights and self-government. The flag is, along with the main municipal symbol - the coat of arms - the official symbol of the Babaevsky municipal district of the Vologda Oblast of the Russian Federation .

The flag was approved on October 11, 2002 and entered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with assignment of registration number 1136.
Description
“The flag of the municipal district is a red-green flag with a 2: 3 ratio of width to length, carrying a simplified version of the coat of arms of the district.”
The heraldic description of the coat of arms reads: “A red-green field is cut by a azure (blue, blue) ribbon. In the middle part of the shield, in the form of a knot, a silver thread (tie) is superimposed, the upper part of which consists of golden bread grains ”
Justification of Symbols
The flag, developed on the basis of the coat of arms , in the language of symbols and allegories reflects the historical, cultural and economic features of the area.
The blue diagonal strip symbolizes the Sudu River, which flows through a wooded area and with a blue ribbon cuts the territory of the Babaevsky municipal district from the northwest to the southeast. The Suda River is associated with the settlement and development of the adjacent territories included in the district.
In the center of the flag is a figure in the form of a knot consisting of woven braids - pink salmon. Scythes - tools of peasant labor - symbolize the historical connection and friendship of two peoples, Vepsians and Russians , the main population of the region. The junction symbolizes the district center of the city of Babaevo (an important railway junction), linking the district into a single municipality.
Grains symbolize the village councils of the Babayevsky district.
Red color symbolizes love for the Vologda Territory, the courage of people living in the north.
Green color - the wealth of northern nature, boundless expanses, freedom, the joy of being.
The blue color is a symbol of exalted aspirations, generosity and sincerity.
White color ( silver ) is a symbol of perfection, strength, peace, cooperation.
Yellow color ( gold ) is a symbol of wealth, greatness, justice, faith in the future.
