The sail is white or yellowish-pink in color with a pink or pink-carmine center freaked by numerous contrasting dark brown or purple-brown spots.
The morphology is intermediate between the Paphiopedilum insigne and the other Indo - China Papiopedylums of the Insigne-complex (such as Paphiopedilum barbigerum var. Cocineum and Paphiopedilum henryanum ).

Etymology
The species name “barbigerum” is derived from the Latin word “barba” - a beard, a bundle of hair. It is associated with the presence of hairs at the base of the side lobes [6] .
Biological description
Escape sympodial type, hidden bases 4-6 leaves.
Leaves narrow lanceolate, evenly green, 8-14 in length, 0.7-1.2 cm in width.
Single -flowered inflorescence , up to 12-18 cm long.
Flowers up to 6-10 cm in diameter. White or yellowish-pink sail with a pink or brownish center, 3-5 by 2.6-4.2 cm. Elliptical lower sepal , 2.4-5 by 1.3-2.2 cm. Petals from yellowish brown to carmine-brown color with yellowish edge, 3.6— 5 by 1-2-2 cm, with a wavy edge. the lip is yellowish-brown, from yellow to pinkish-carmine-brown in color, 3-4.5 by 3-3.5 cm. Staminodium is light yellow with an orange top, obovate, 9-11 by 8-10 mm [4] .
Chromosomes - 2n = 26 [6] .
Area, environmental features
Southern China ( Guangxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region , Yunnan [7] , Guizhou [8] ), northern Vietnam (in Vietnam only Paphiopedilum barbigerum var. Lockianum ), northern Myanmar , northern Thailand (requires confirmation), can be found in limestone regions of northern Laos on the border with Vietnam [4] .
Broad-leaved evergreen forests on rocky areas composed of crystalline limestone . At altitudes from 1000 to 1100 meters above sea level.
Blossoming: September - November. The species is very rare [4] .
Temperature range: 11–28 ° C. Shady habitats. Soil: pH 7.0 [6] .

In culture
The temperature group is moderate [9] .
Planting in plastic and ceramic pots with several drainage holes at the bottom, ensuring uniform drying of the substrate.
The frequency of watering is chosen so that the substrate inside the pot did not have time to dry completely.
