County Bruce is a county in Southwestern Ontario , an area in the Canadian province of Ontario . The county administration is located in Walkerton. According to the 2006 census, the population is 65,349, making Bruce the 36th largest municipality in Ontario (out of 40) [1] .

The name of the county is associated with the Brus Peninsula and the eponymous route that runs through it. The county is officially named after James Bruce , the sixth governor general of the province of Canada .
In the county is the national park Brus . Among the significant cities are Tobermory and Wiarton, the home of the weather predictor Groundhog Viarton Willie .
