Wood, William (politician)

William Wood ( eng. William P. Wood ; March 11, 1820 , Alexandria , Virginia — March 20, 1903 , Washington ) —the first director of the United States secret service . On July 5, 1865, he was sworn in by US Treasury Secretary Hugh McCulloch .
