Dave Mustaine on writing an album
“Based on the goals and objectives, this album was simply unaffordable. I could not figure out my drug addiction: I wanted to quit, I didn’t want to, we worked in the Woodstock studio (on the outskirts of New York) and it was bad for me, and everything just fell apart. And Paul Lani went to the forest park zone, picked apples, cleaned them and fed them to the fucking deer while we were trying to record a record. And I thought, “So, a deer eats a fucking cleaning of apples. So, deer do not eat peeled apples without seeds! “. We had to remix the album twice, and the mix still sounded disgusting. Imagine if I paid Lani for leaving the studio to feed the fucking fawn? Instead of doing your job: that is to pore over the recording of the album. This record was recorded in total haste. We were put in front of simply unrealistic deadlines, and to be honest, the group was simply no good. Neither Chuck nor Jeff fit into the band - not to mention the fact that they were not such bad musicians, but not for the Megadeth level. For me, So Far, So Good ... was a step backwards. ”
In My Darkest Hour
The song “In My Darkest Hour” was written by Dave Mustaine, the leader of the band, shortly after the death of Cliff Burton , the bass player of Metallica , which Dave himself participated in from 1981 to 1983 , but was kicked out shortly before Kill ’s debut album. 'Em All . In all likelihood, In My Darkest Hour is Mustein's most personal song, and to some extent the most difficult.
Dave Mustaine: “This song was written that day when I found out about Cliff's death. This is a very heartfelt song for me, because it beautifully expresses the storm of emotions that then arose in me. I was very upset and I think that this feeling of loss was reflected in the music. Over all these years, many people wrote to our fan club and said: “Dave, I don’t need to live anymore, life is shit, because we all will die,” and then: “But this song gave me hope, and now I understand , and I see the same as you, those who fight with these problems “, and let's admit, life is a bitch. But there are certain things that help you live, and when I find out that this music has touched others and gave them hope to continue living, etc., it really makes me happy. ”
