The flag of the city of Suzdal, Suzdal District, Vladimir Region of the Russian Federation, is a legal identification symbol that serves as the official symbol of the municipality.

The current flag was approved on May 18, 2004 [1] as the flag of the City of Suzdal, Vladimir Region municipal formation (after the municipal reform of 2006 — the city settlement of the city of Suzdal, Vladimir Region ), and entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with a registration number 1347 .
The flag is made on the basis of the coat of arms of the city of Suzdal , according to the rules and corresponding traditions of vexillology , and reflects the historical, cultural, socio-economic, national and other local traditions.

Description
The description of the flag, approved by the decision of the Council of People's Deputies of the municipality "City of Suzdal" dated July 22, 2003 No. 59 [2] , read:
| The flag of the Suzdal City of Vladimir Region municipal formation is a rectangular panel divided horizontally into two equal bands: blue and red, bearing in the center the image of a figure from the coat of arms of the city of Suzdal: a white hawk turned from a pole and turned falcon with wings raised, crowned with yellow closed crown. The ratio of the width of the flag to its length is 2: 3. |
On May 18, 2004, having considered the recommendations of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation , by the decision of the Council of People's Deputies of the City of Suzdal municipal formation No. 32 [1] , the falcon picture was changed in the flag picture and a new (double) flag description was given:
| "In a field of azure and scarlet, a converted and turned falcon of natural colors (non-heraldic brown, with golden eyes and paws) with wings raised to the right, topped with a golden princely crown"; “A rectangular panel with a 2: 3 aspect ratio, consisting of two equal horizontal stripes: blue (top) and red; in the center - a figure of the coat of arms of the city of Suzdal: a brown falcon with yellow eyes and paws, turned from the pole and topped with a yellow princely crown. ” |
Symbolization Justification
In the center of the flag is a falcon - a symbol of beauty and courage.
The white color ( silver ) in heraldry symbolizes faith, purity, sincerity, sincerity, nobility, frankness and innocence [3] .
The yellow crown allegorically shows that the city of Suzdal , the first mention of which dates from 1024, has a very rich history: in the first half of the 12th century it was the center of the Rostov-Suzdal principality ; from the middle of the XIII century - for the first time - the capital of an independent Suzdal principality ; in the first half of the XIV century - the capital of the Suzdal-Nizhny Novgorod principality .
Suzdal is the oldest large Russian religious center in North-Eastern Russia: already in the XI century there was a courtyard of the Kiev-Pechersk monastery with the Church of St. Dmitry. At the end of the XVII - beginning of the XVIII centuries there was a metropolis in Suzdal, until the end of the XIX century - a diocese .
Modern Suzdal is a city-museum with developed tourism: about 300 monuments of Russian architecture of the XIII – XIX centuries are preserved in the city.
Yellow color ( gold ) in heraldry symbolizes wealth, supremacy, majesty, sublimity of thoughts, dignity.
The blue color in heraldry symbolizes honor, glory, devotion, truth, virtue and clear sky. [four]
