Biography
Alexander Serdyuk was born on June 14 (27), 1900 in the village of Bzov (now Baryshevsky district , Kiev region ), Ukraine ).
In 1919 he graduated from the Kiev Music and Drama Institute. N. Lysenko (now the Kiev National University of Theater, Cinema and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary ).
He began his stage career at the First Theater of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic named after T. Shevchenko in Kiev (now the Dnieper Drama Theater named after T. Shevchenko ) (1919-1922). Since 1922 - actor of the Berezil Theater, student of L. Kurbas . In 1926, he moved to Kharkov with the theater. After the defeat of "Berezil" in 1933, he remained in the troupe of the theater (since 1935 - the Kharkov Ukrainian Drama Theater named after T. Shevchenko ). In 1957 - 1962 - its director and artistic director.
Since 1946 he was engaged in directing.
Since 1946 he taught at the Kharkov Theater Institute (now the Kharkov National University of Arts named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky ) (since 1960 - professor ).
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943 . Member of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR 4-5th convocations.
Alexander Serdyuk died on December 14, 1988 . He was buried at the 2nd city cemetery of Kharkov [1] .

- In 1933-1935, A. Serdyuk posed for the sculptor M. Manizer for the figures of a rebel with a scythe and a Cossack tearing the bonds, a multi-figure monument to T. Shevchenko in Kharkov .
