Brazil Football Championship 2002

Brazilian Football Championship 2002 - 32nd draw of the Brazilian Football Championship . The tournament started on August 10 , and ended on December 15, 2002 .

Santos won its first Brazilian title. It was in this championship that the new star of Brazilian football, Robinho, was lit. However, the best player of the tournament was recognized as Kaka of Sao Paulo.

According to the results of the season, two clubs - “Palmeiras” and “Botafogo” - flew to Serie B. Both won the right to return already at the end of the next season.

This was the last tournament in which the Brazilian champion came to light through the playoffs .

Phase One

In the first phase of the championship, all 26 participants held one match against each other. According to the results of this single-round tournament, 8 best clubs were revealed that led the fight to the playoffs for the championship title. The winner of the first phase was confidently “São Paulo”, while the future champion “Santos” finished only eighth.
