The Order of Saint Savva of the Serbian Orthodox Church ( Serb. Order of Svetog Sava Srpske Orthodox Crkva ) is the highest order of the Serbian Orthodox Church .

Content

History

Established by the decisions of the Holy Bishops' Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church on May 24 and 26, 1985 , in memory of the 800th anniversary of the birth of St. Sava , to be awarded for services to the Serbian Orthodox Church. The statute of the order was approved on May 22, 1986 . The decision on awarding is made by the Holy Synod and approved by the Serbian Patriarch .

The Order marks outstanding achievements in the spiritual, educational, and humanitarian fields. The Order may be awarded to both spiritual and secular persons, as well as groups and organizations. [one]

Order is divided into 3 degrees. Badges of the order are worn on the neckband. The degrees of the order differ from each other in the color of the badge and ribbon of the order.

  • The badge of the order 1 degree of white , worn on the tape of white.
  • The badge of the Order 2 degrees of red , worn on the tape of red.
  • The badge of order 3 degrees of blue , worn on the tape of blue.

Insignia of the Order

The badge of the order is a gold (gilded) enameled cross with flared ends. At the ends of the cross are gold balls. In the center of the cross is a round medallion with a wide rim covered with enamel. In the center of the medallion is an image of Saint Sava, repeating the image on a fresco in the Mileshev monastery . On the reverse side of the sign in the center of the medallion is the emblem of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Between the sides of the cross are placed the golden Serbian double-headed eagles .

The 1st degree cross is covered with white enamel, the 2nd degree - with red enamel, the 3rd degree - with blue enamel.

The cross is suspended from the golden patriarchal miter, which is fastened to the ribbon through the ring.

Ribbon Order silk moire. The color of the 1st degree ribbon is white, the 2nd degree is red, the 3rd degree is blue.
