Description

Beetle from 18 to 35 mm long. It occurs from June to August.

Distribution

Range of species: Central and Southern Europe , the Caucasus and Transcaucasia [2] .

Ecology and habitats

They live in deciduous forests , groves , gardens [3] . Larvae develop inside the trunks of old and diseased deciduous trees, including oak , beech , elm , horse chestnut , hornbeam , carcass , linden , ash , poplar , willow , and walnut [1] [2] [3] .

Variability

The color of the beetles is quite variable, changeable and the sculpture of the elytra. One typical form, two varieties and two aberrations are known, all of them differ from each other in the color of the parts of the body and the hairs covering the body [3] .
